Hand Piercing Quilt Workshop - Interested in learning how Lancaster County's famous hand-made quilts are made? This workshop sponsored by the Heritage Center of Lancaster County will teach you the basic quilting stitch as well as the basics you will need to know to finish any quilting pattern.

James Buchanan's 216 Birthday Celebration at Wheatland - Come to Wheatland, the Lancaster estate President Buchanan and help celebrate the 216th birthday of the only Pennsylvanian to serve as President of the United States (1857 to 1861. There are free tours and birthday cake during this event hosted by students from the Buchanan Elementary School.

Strasburg

A Moveable Feast: From the Farm to the Table by Train - Over the last two centuries, America’s trains have transported food and food products across the continent, helping to feed millions of people. Through the use of photographs and artifacts, this exhibit chronicles how railroads delivered food from the farm to the table; how railroads –through advancements in technology –revolutionized both what we ate and the way in which we ate; and, how the culinary experience of railroad dining and café cars became a staple of passenger train service.

  • Admission: This special event is included in regular museum admission: $7.00 for Adults, ages 18 to 59; $6.00 for Senior Adults, ages 60 and over; $5.00 for Youths, ages 6 to 17; and, Free for Young Children, ages 5 and under.

Wine & Cheese Train - Complimentary wine, cheese and crackers are provided with First-Class accommodations on the Parlor Car. Beer, mixed drinks, non-alcoholic hot & cold beverages are also available for purchase.
