January

National Christmas Center exhibit at Quilt Museum - See and enjoy the special exhibits depicting the changing ways that Christmas was celebrated through each decade since 1900.

Lancaster Symphony Orchestra Presents: The Romance of Rachmaninoff - Classical music lovers won't want to miss Sergei Rachmaninoff's "Symphony No. 2," plus "Voices from the Gallery," a witty and entertaining blend of music, spoken word and visual images. There will be a "Meet the Musicians" reception after Friday night's performance.

Needlefelt Fruit Program - Ever think about starting a new hobby? Learn the basic techniques of needlefelting with raw wool. Students will create beautiful needlefelt fruit art and will be able to take home their finished project. No experience necessary.

Friendship Benefit Art Auction - From 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, there will be a reception and a silent auction. This will be followed by a live auction beginning at 8:00 p.m. There will be live music as well as refreshments available as you enjoy the many art displays.

In the making: Fastnachts Day - Learn the Pennsylvania Dutch traditions behind the fastnacht. This local specialty, which loosely resembles a kind of a deep-fried doughnut, has a historical connection to the 40 days of fasting for Lent. You will get to sample this tasty local favorite served before Ash Wednesday.

The 21 St. Annual Craft Show - All proceeds of this craft show will be used to provide scholarships for deserving local students. The show is presented by the Covered Bridge Charter Chapter of the American Business Women's Association.

James Buchanan's 216 Birthday Celebration at Wheatland - Come to Wheatland, the Lancaster estate President Buchanan and help celebrate the 216th birthday of the only Pennsylvanian to serve as President of the United States (1857 to 1861. There are free tours and birthday cake during this event hosted by students from the Buchanan Elementary School.

10th Annual Artistry in Motion, Vintage Grand Tour & Show - Join Lancaster Musuem of Art in celebrating their 10th year of celebrating artistry in motion by honoring the Porche. The beautiful grounds of Bridge Acres Stables will be your backdrop as you sip champagne, listen to jazz, and stroll among classic motor vehicles.

Herb & Garden Faire - This is one of the largest plant and garden sales on the East Coast. More than 80 vendors will tempt you with flowers, herbs, historic seeds, and garden accessories. Come and help celebrate the 20th anniversary of Landis Valley's highly regarded Heirloom Seed Project. Demonstrations range from cooking with herbs to homeopathic uses for plants.

45th Annual Open Art Award Exhibit - Lancaster Summer Arts Festival’s annual exhibition featuring art work by Lancaster County artists.

Feathers, Fills and Frills by Machine - Participants in this class will learn free motion quilting fills and feathers. This is a technique class working with 15” squares of muslin and batting, and each person will take home their samples. Lancaster's Summertime Blues Bash 2007 - Enjoy the entertainment at this annual bash devoted to the Blues which is held in an outdoor courtyard in historic Lancaster. Demuth Garden Weekend Tour - Take a tour of the homes and gardens of eleven exclusive Lancaster County locations which reflect the work of Lancaster artist Charles Demuth.

Also, have fun while local contestants compete in a good old-fashioned pie eating contest. Find out who will win the title by eating the most pies in eight minutes.
