Christiana


On Golden Pond - The love story of Ethel and Norman, returning to Golden Pond for the forty-eighth year. They are visited by their divorced daughter and her fiancee, who go off to Europe and leave his teenage son with them for the summer. The boy becomes the grand child they have longed for. They are all brought even closer by the incident of a heart attack. Perhaps another summer on Golden Pond awaits.

Ephrata

Building History - Discover the history of old houses and learn how to care for your historic home. Craftsmen will be demonstrating a wide variety of building techniques including 18th-centiury wall construction, log hewing and shingle making. Guys and Dolls : The classic story of small time gamblers and the ladies in their lives. Nathan Detroit bets his pal, the slick, high-rolling Sky Masterson, that he can’t get the next lady he sees to fall in love with him. Unfortunately for Sky, it’s the prim and proper neighborhood missionary Sarah Brown who is out to save their very souls. And while Sky is wooing Miss Brown, Nathan has trouble of his own with Adelaide, the chronically ill nightclub performer whose condition is brought on by the fact she's been engaged to Nathan for 14 years.

Doubt: A Parable - The story of Sister Aloysius, the no-nonsense principal of St. Nicholas Catholic School in 1964, who suspects the Parish priest of inappropriate behavior. A firm adherent to church doctrine and procedure, and with no firm evidence of wrongdoing, Sister Aloysius must decide whether to trust her instincts or to accept Father Flynn's protestations of innocence. John Patrick Shanley's play won the Pulitzer Prize and the Tony Award for Best Play and was called the "best play of 2005" by over ten national newspapers and magazines.

Artistry in Motion, Vintage Grand Tour & Show : For connoisseurs of the automobile as an art form, the 2008 Lancaster Museum of Art's 10th Annual Artistry in Motion will be a feast for the eyes. Most pre-1974 vintage vehicles are invited to participate in the annual fund raising event to Lancaster Museum of Art.

The beautiful grounds of Bridge Acres Stables provide the backdrop as you listen to jazz, and stroll amid classic motor vehicles.

  • Time: The Tour begins at 9:00 AM as vintage vehicles assemble at the High Pavilion at Greenfield Corporate Center, Lancaster. From there the vintage vehicles will tour 35 miles to their final destination at Bridge Acres Stable, along the Conestoga River. Starting at noon at Bridge Acres, the touring participants will join non-touring show cars and the motorcycles for the rest of the festivities.
  • Admission: General admission for ages 5 and up is $10.00. Children under 5 are admitted free. There is also a Gourmet Luncheon which is $55 per person, including admission. Reservations for the luncheon must be received by April 26, 2008.


Family Science Sunday : Family Science Sunday is truly science fun for everyone. Various hands-on activities, science demonstrations, interactive events are available along with an opportunity to witness some of the animals a little closer than normal in the Live Animal Room.

Please note that there is a Special Exhibit running from January 25, 2008 until May 30, 2008 called, "Snakes, Rattles & Holes." Look at life through a snake's eyes at this exhibit by Purdue University. Feel a snake's skin, see how snakes slither, or help a snake get his dinner - on a video game.

Herb & Garden Faire : One of the East Coast's largest plant and garden sales. Landis Valley's highly regarded Heirloom Seed Project celebrates its 23rd year with a large selection of heirloom tomatoes, roses and other plants.

On hand will be more than 80 vendors of herbs, annuals, perennials, roses, historic seeds and garden accoutrements. Feel free to pack a picnic lunch or purchase food on the grounds.

The Essential Rachmaninoff & Ravel - Celebrate the 60th anniversary season of the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra. Come listen to Sergei Rachmaninoff’s majestic Symphonic Dances which exemplifies his gift for melody and his uncanny ability to capture orchestral color.

Footloose : This hit captures the heart of America with its youthful spirit, electrifying dance and music including Holding Out for a Hero, Almost Paradise, Let’s Hear It For the Boy and of course Footloose.

Travis Tritt: Travis Tritt was one of the leading new country singers of the early ‘90s, emerging on the scene with the likes of Garth Brooks, Clint Black, and Alan Jackson. Throughout the early ‘90s, he had a string of platinum albums and Top Ten singles, including three number one hits.

"Laughter in Bloom:" Eddie Carroll as Jack Benny: Eddie Carroll’s loving tribute to the comic genius that was Jack Benny. Impeccable comic timing, subtle gestures, and his classic “Well,” are included in Eddie’s dead-on interpretation.

Herb Reed & The Platters; Kenny Vance & The Planotones; and,Shirley Alston Reeves: Live Performance.

The Platters, featuring original member Herb Reed, have recorded just under 400 songs, have sold over 80 million records, performed in over 91 countries and have received over two hundred and thirty awards from around the world. They are known for the following songs: “Only You,” “Smoke Gets in Your Eyes,” “My Prayer,” “The Great Pretender,” “Twilight Time” and “The Magic Touch.”

Kenny Vance began his musical career by forming the successful group Jay and The Americans, and remained with them for their entire 11-year career. The Planotones were originally formed for the feature film American Hot Wax and were re-formed in 1992.

Shirley Alston Reeves, original lead singer of the Shirelles, will be performing many of their hits, which may include: “I Met Him on a Sunday,” “This is Dedicated to the One I Love” and “Tonight’s the Night.”

Red Rose Run: Here's the chance to start running downtown and participate in this annual, five mile run benefiting the Southeast Lancaster Health Services and Bright Side Opportunities Center.

Children under 10 can join the Kids Fun Run. Awards are given to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in various categories.

The Great Pennsylvania FlavorFest - A two-day festival featuring unique culinary specialties from Lancaster County and throughout the state.

There will be cooking demonstrations and cook-offs spotlighting regional chefs; lessons in the culinary art of pairing beer and wine with a variety of meals; workshops on an organic approach to eating; tasting and sales of the area's finest wine; beer sampling; and much more.

Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen and local artisans will sell one-of-a-kind high-end crafts. There will even be a diverse mix of musical entertainment.

Walt Disney's Backyard Railroad -Walt Disney always loved trains and he was one of America’s greatest railroad fans, preserving real steam railroading at Disney theme parks throughout the world.

Members of the Carolwood Pacific Historical Society, including nationally-recognized Disney authority Michael Broggie (son of Disney’s first Imagineer Roger Broggie) will treat Museum visitors to a personal glimpse of this man who loved trains and the legends that surrounded him.

Pennsys Days 2008 - The Pennsys Days Annual Weekend is traditionally filled with interesting activities for the entire family. There will be exhibits of original work by railroad artists and authors; displays of memorabilia and collectibles; historical presentations; tours of locomotives and railroad cars; operating model railroads and other special events for Railroad Museum visitors.
