Here is a listing and description of some of the special Lancaster County events taking place in February of 2008.

The dates, times, and admission prices are accurate as of the time of this posting. However, it is possible that changes may occur as the year progresses.

Elizabethtown

Adele Anthony - Adele Anthony is a world-class who will perform Bach's Complete Partitas and Sonatas.

Ephrata

3rd Friday's A Charm - On every third Friday of the month, the shops of downtown Ephrata invite you to a special celebration. The monthly event serves as the perfect introduction to this Lancaster County city as well as something to look forward to for regular visitors.

Holtwood



Rawlinsville Farm Equipment & Antique Mud Sale - Unless you are looking for farm equipment or are a farm enthusiast, this two-day event which specializes in outdoor equipment may not appeal to you. However, if you are interested in local community events, you will find plenty to enjoy here. Also, there will be antiques on hand that might be of interest. On Friday, February 28, 2007, new and used farm equipment will be on sale. On Saturday, February 29, 2007, the focus will be various antiques, antique tractors and engines.

Lancaster City

Local Artist Exhibition - View the art from four very talented local artists in four separate exhibitions: Shalya Marsh will present her clay sculptures; Thomas Scullin presents his paintings; Erik Miley presents his sculptures; and, Claire Giblin presents her painting. There will be a reception Reception Friday, January 4, 2008 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

Chinese New Year Celebration : In celebration of the Chinese New Year, there will be games, performances and other fun activities for the entire family to enjoy.

Lancaster Symphony Orchestra: Classic Concert Series - Celebrate the 60th anniversary season of the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra. Soundscapes of Grieg and Sibelius. Internationally acclaimed, Russian born pianist Yuliya Gorenman will perform Edvard Grieg’s Piano Concerto in A minor and Sigurd Jorsalfar as well as Jean Sibelius' Symphony No. 2. The beautiful music is evocative of the Scandinavian landscape.

Miranda Lambert - Live performance from the Country Music Award nominee for Top Female Vocalist. Miranda Lambert's debut album Kerosene went to number one on the country charts. Mark Lowry - Mark Lowry has been making people laugh, cry and think for over twenty years. Beginning in 1988, Mark’s antics on stage as the baritone with the Gaither Vocal Band were an instant hit with the Vocal Band audiences and their comedy evolved into the highlight of the evening when the Homecoming Tour was born. In 1984, Mark wrote the lyric to the beautiful song, “Mary, Did You Know?” which has become a modern Christmas standard, recorded by more than thirty different artists including Kenny Rogers, Wynonna Judd, Clay Aiken, Natalie Cole, and Donny Osmond.

Rick Springfield - Live Performance by the multi-talented Australian-born Rick Springfield. Springfield has been a constant in the popular music scene since the early ‘70s, creating two monster albums, "Working Class Dog" in 1981, and "Success Hasn’t Spoiled Me Yet" in 1982. These albums yielded the hits “Don’t Talk to Strangers,” “I’ve Done Everything for You,” and his signature song, “Jessie’s Girl.” He also performed as Dr. Noah Drake on “General Hospital" as well as in many TV movies throughout the years.

The Temptations and The Four Tops - Live Performance.

The Temptations were the most consistently commercially successful and critically acclaimed male vocal group of the 1960’s and early 1970’s. Some of their many hits include “Get Ready,” “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg,” “Ball of Confusion,” “Papa Was a Rolling Stone,” “It’s Just My Imagination” and “My Girl.”

The Four Tops were another of Motown’s most consistent hit-makers in the 1960’s, and its longest-lived lineup (40 years). The Four Tops also produced hit after hit including “Baby I Need Your Loving,” “I Can’t Help Myself,” “Reach Out and I’ll Be There” and “Standing in the Shadows of Love.”.
