Strasburg Events in 2009
Are you thinking about visiting beautiful Strasburg, Pennsylvania but don't know when yet? Here are some of the special Strasburg events that will be taking place throughout 2009. The dates, times, and admission prices are accurate as of the time of this posting. However, it is possible that changes may occur as the year progresses. Therefore, please check back periodically to see if there have been any updates. We will plan to list more events as information becomes available.
Trains In Motion Pictures Exhibit - From flickering shadows to Hollywood blockbusters, this exhibit will reveal the starring role that trains and railroads have often played in the magic of motion pictures through video clips, historic photographs and amazing artifacts.
Conrail Days - The Consolidated Rail Corporation arose from a federal bail out of the railroad inudstry in the 1970s to become a profitable and successful private enterprise? The equipment, history and spirit of conrail will be highlighted, in partnership with the Conrail Historical Society.
Pennsys Days 2008 - The Pennsys Days Annual Weekend is traditionally filled with interesting activities for the entire family. There will be exhibits of original work by railroad artists and authors; displays of memorabilia and collectibles; historical presentations; tours of locomotives and railroad cars; operating model railroads and other special events for Railroad Museum visitors. The event is sponsored by the Pennsylvania Historical & Museum Commission, the Friends of the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania and the Pennsylvania Railroad Technical & Historical Society, Philadelphia chapter.
Model Railroading Days - For fans of model railroad building, this event is for you. During the weekend you will be able to attend a great variety of exciting railroad model building workshops and activities. You will enjoy witnessing firsthand the complex operating layouts as well as demonstrations of the latest products at both the Railroad Museum and National Toy Train Museum.
Trains and Troops - Trains & Troops is the Museum's annual tribute to the U.S. Armed Forces, American railroads and all those who served, and are serving, overseas and on the home front in defense of our nation. Experience a fascinating array of military and railroad service-related archival posters, uniforms, equipment, field gear, maps, books and photographs on display from participating exhibitors, as well as from the Railroad Museum's own collection. You will get to enjoy riding the troop trains on the Strasburg Rail Road with living history re-enactments on both days. The special train will be comprised of a Strasburg Rail Road historic steam locomotive, a boxcar, a military flatcar from the Railroad Museum’s collection, two coaches and a caboose.
Voices of Christmas - This uplifting, heart warming holiday showcase will highlight the many "voices" that proclaim the Savior's birth, and the powerful impact the message of Christmas has had on countless generations throughout history. This joyful celebration of Christmas is alive with all your favorite Carols, toe-tapping dances, live instruments, endearing animals, rich colorful costumes, and thought-provoking stories that center around Christmas themes, past and present. A wonderful holiday destination for friends and family, Voices of Christmas is an exhilarating and inspirational journey through the many treasured traditions that have made Christmas "the most wonderful time of the year"!.

Meet costumed engineers, conductors, ticket agents and passengers representing the past century and enjoy seasonal music, festive decorations, Jack Frost Station and a Polar Express party for young children among the world-class collection of trains.
Taking the Swing Train ‘40S Dance - Come and swing to the popular Sound of Roses live band among the trains in the Railroad Museum’s awe inspiring Rolling Stock Hall. For extra fun, you can even come in uniform or ‘40s clothing.
Garden Railway Tour -Take an enjoyable self-guided, private home tour of beautiful garden railways, operating layouts and special model train collections.

The Millennium Theatre will be grandly decorated with lights, greenery, Nativity scenes and a spectacular thirty-foot Christmas tree.
